The Sunshine Motel Policies


  • In person: payments can be made by cash or credit card only; Master Card, VISA, Discover, and American express are accepted. Payment made by cash will still require a credit card to cover theft or damages. Balance due is to be paid at check-in. Payment for the full rental rate is expected at the time of arrival.

  • Online: there are two options for payment. Pay by credit card or pay off line. The first requires full payment upfront all refund policies still in effect. Payment offline is the same as in person payment please know we will contact you for a credit card to hold the room.

  • We are unable to issue a refund for early departures. No refunds will be given after check-in. We cannot control the weather or illness.


  • Room cancellation must be made forty-eight (48) hours before your arrival date. We are sorry, but after the forty-eight (48) hour time frame, one day plus taxes will be charged to the card on file. A no call/no show will result in cancelation of reservation and the loss of the full amount owed. (Up to the discretion of the management) We understand if you are coming here to snowmobile there must be snow and forty-eight (48) hours should be sufficient time to determine if there will be snow.


  • Cabin cancellation must be made a minimum of one (1) month before your scheduled arrival for a full refund if paid in advance. After 30 days the full charge will be applied to your credit card. (Policies may change in the winter).

  • No cancellations will be given for reservations made for the week of a holiday (Christmas, New Year, Memorial Day, July 4th, Porcupine Music Festival, Labor Day, or Thanksgiving).  

  • Sorry, no Rv's or pop-ups allowed on site: We do not have the facilities nor the permits to host RV's.


  • Dogs are welcome: with a $10.00 per reservation cleaning fee (small to medium sized limit of two).


      We do have few rules for Pet Owners that must follow:


       1.Pet must be trained no puppy pads


       2.Pets must be current on all their shots.


       3.Clean-up after their pets.


       4. Pets cannot be left unattended in rooms or cabins even with a pet caddy.


       5. Pets must be on a leash with their owner at all times when outside.


  • Dishes must be washed and put away before departure. Housekeeping service is not available as we do not allow anyone to enter the cabin/room after it is rented to you. Everyday cleaning is the responsibility of the guest. Please be aware that in the cabins there is a minimum $25.00 charge for cleaning services if the dishes are not washed and properly stored in their respective cabinets. If you would like clean towels, bring your used towels to the office and we will be happy to issue fresh towels in exchange.


  • Any damages or theft will not be tolerated. You will be solely responsible for all costs related to damages or theft incurred during your stay.


  • No smoking is allowed in rooms, cabins, hallways, stairways, or enclosed areas. It is Michigan law. There will be a $100.00 cleaning charge for anyone caught smoking or the smell of smoke is found in the room or cabin you rented as well as a possible $250.00 fine from the state.
